PARADISA HISTORY: a lot of Sirius' history can be told like a bad Glee episode, sadly. He spent a lot of his time messing around with girls, and I think he has so around me apologies to make when he returns, mainly to Alex Russo. ;;;;;;; He and Alex started to have something good going within his first few months in the game, and at the same time he was also earning himself a fairly serious marriage proposal from one Roxy Lalonde. (Or at least, as serious as an alcoholic teenager can be to a fellow teenager.) They were more like partners in crime, but he was probably as attached to Roxy as he was to Alex, which really kind of exposes Sirius as the sleaze he truly is. I'm not sugar-coating it. He's kinda terrible for girls.

He's also had to defend Arya Stark from Remus' werewolf form, Moony, and made friends with a few people, but other than that, having awesome hate-you-so-much CR with E. Aster Bunnymund (the thread I'm referring to the most was absolutely magnificent, and might be one of the only threads I've ever finished in journal rp) and even after getting his motorcycle early as a present from the castle, Sirius didn't really spend his time in any substantial way until Valentine's Day. He did manage to successfully charm his bike to fly, and that was a wonderful thing, but it was a wonderful thing that he mostly kept to himself until February 14th.

After spending his day getting ridiculous amounts of undue attention from girls by way of magicked up chocolates, he gave a double chocolate truffle to Remus, not knowing what he was about to unleash upon himself. Poor Remus consequently poured his heart out for his best friend, which understandably freaked Sirius out. He gave it the old college try though! He went on a date with Remus, just to try it. It wasn't enough to go on, though, so he (quite loudly and unintentionally publicly) asked him for another date. The things people said, though, when he realized his journal had followed him, well... They were putting a name to it that he wasn't exactly ready for, and he got freaked out again.

Sirius disappeared from the castle for a while, and hid out in the City Royale while he figured things out for himself. He had a lot to think about; namely, whether he really fancied men, let alone how he felt about Remus. He also had his loss to ponder, because if he couldn't really feel his loss, did that mean he didn't have one? (Don't worry, I think he figured it out at least just a little. He can't really remember why he's living with James back in their world, so he figures that's part of it.) However, Sirius spent two months in the city on the down-low, and in that time he was making Remus more and more worried. Sirius returned to find Remus just post-full and barely managing a glass of water for himself. After helping him, Sirius finally reciprocated Remus' feelings.

During the Hogwarts event, he helped coordinate awesome pranks with not only his fellow Marauders, but also with the help of several honorary Marauders, made up of enthusiastic castle residents. It will eventually be Sirius' intention to continue the shenanigans with these interested parties, and you can expect more pranks in Cair Paradisa proper.

WHAT THEY ORIGINALLY LOST: His understanding of blood purity and why he ran away from Grimmauld Place. I'd... really like to point out here that I'm a little surprised this was accepted the first time around, in hindsight. It's fairly abstract, and without more wizards from the HP universe around him he didn't really notice it. If the mod reading this would kindly consider just accepting two new losses, I'd appreciate it greatly. This loss was simply not easily felt and I was at a loss (no pun intended) as to how to play it out.

SECOND LOSS: The full ability to control his dog form, Padfoot. Not to say he can't use his animagus abilities whatsoever; he can only use them strictly on new, quarter or full moons. It's significant, even if it's not a complete loss, because Sirius quite enjoys being a dog at times and he often uses it to manipulate those who are aware of the ability. He also uses it to do things he considers embarrassing, such as delivering things he doesn't want to be seen delivering, or just in situations where he wants to go unnoticed (ie, sneaking back into Cair Paradisa after laying low in town for a couple months and completely avoiding his friends /cough). By only making him able to turn into a dog four days out of the month, one of his main tools for manipulation loses a lot of potential use, when he depends on the ability to get him out of sticky situations at a moment's notice. The reason I don't just offer up the ability entirely is because that will be just as much a loss for Remus Lupin as it is for Sirius. On full moons, when Remus is subject to his lycanthropy, Sirius also takes on the role of the wolf's alpha. (This is based on headcanon that Phi and I have developed long prior to joining the game, having played together for a very long time outside of Dreamwidth.) Even in Sirius' absence Remus has noted in posts that the transformations have been rougher on him than usual. Remus has a hard enough time of it as it is, I don't want to tease him by giving him Sirius, yet taking Moony's alpha from him. The castle can't be that cruel.
\In addition, if you'll accept another loss to replace the old one, I'd like to offer the ability to Apparate over long distances. If he tries to Apparate further than ten meters' distance, the Apparation will be successful, but he will Splinch a one-inch section of hair from somewhere sensitive. I see no need to justify this loss, it's pretty straightforward.

INTENT: I never actually meant to drop or idle out in the first place. It's just that I had a really awful and emotionally draining two months for different reasons, and I just couldn't get myself to tag or post out of lack of time or peace of mind. Paradisa was always present in my thoughts, and I never actually drifted away from the game as people who idle out generally do. Once I had one last week to catch up on AC in August and I actually felt capable of doing so, even, my Kindle was stolen and I couldn't see any practicality in trying to rp from my phone. (I'm currently living away from home for a seasonal resort job and I have absolutely no computer access, otherwise these things wouldn't have stopped me.) Since I just got laid off and just returned home, there's nothing stopping me from posting and tags now. As for Sirius himself, I'm apping him as a returning character and didn't just app him right away on a clean slate because of how far his CR with Remus has come. Neither Phi or myself want to start over completely on romantic CR when Sirius' departure has already broken Remus' heart as it is.

CHARACTER
CHARACTER NAME: Sirius Black III
SERIES: Harry Potter
CANON POINT: Just after 6th year
LOSS: Understanding of blood purity and blood traitors, and why he ran away from home
ABOUT THE CHARACTER: There are many words to describe Sirius Black. A charming man about Hogwarts? Check. Loyal to the end? You know it. The proudest Gryffindor that ever gryffed? Most definitely. Despairingly handsome and a genius to boot-- as if there was any doubt? Of course. Sirius Black is all of these things- a shameless flirt, a brilliant and proud young wizard, a cunning prankster, and most importantly, a steadfast friend to the Marauders. He has a very energetic, if not impulsive nature, and is pleasantly defiant to rules and authority.

On the other hand, Sirius is vain at times, overprotective, and a bit rigid about certain things. He can be a merciless bully (sometimes unjustifiably) to those who cross him or his friends (or anyone he dislikes, really). He rarely apologizes, and even when he's older, he calls himself at the age I have put him at an "arrogant little berk". He can be a great big slitherer-outer (to use a well-loved word from the Howl's Moving Castle novel) and it is hard to pin him down to anything (though his topic-changing abilities are not so perfect as Moony's, he's noticed). He also has a volatile temper, which he very likely inherited from his mother.

Underneath all the vanity and flirtation, however, lies a darker, more depressed side that even the Marauders rarely see. While yes, he has all the confidence that his outward personality requires, he harbors a lot of shame stemming from his noble roots. Sirius comes from the Ancient and Most Noble House of Black, whose culture of pureblood mania ultimately drove him out of his own home and family tree. (Really, their motto is Toujours pur- Always pure, and they believed that the old families were like wizarding royalty and that mudbloods should not exist.) Sirius' grew up rather unhappy, and by the time he entered Hogwarts he had grown to resent his family.

His sorting into Gryffindor House in his first year proved that he had truly deviated from the Black family values, and as such was the catalyst to really set his true character in motion. While his brother, Regulus was lauded as the 'better son', Sirius was often shamed and emotionally abused by much of his family. (Though, to be fair, Sirius really did little to help his situation by putting up Gryffindor banners and posters of scantily-clad Muggle women in his room with Permanent Sticking Charms.) He bears shame for not trying to help Regulus, as well as shame for the oppressive manner in which he was raised and his family's atrocious way of life.

Sirius does not, however, regret making the choices he has when it comes to his friends and his own personal values. He has always despised Toujours pur and what it stood for, and as such, his rejection of the typical pureblooded values has earned him his status as a blood traitor at age 16. As his canon point puts him early into the First Wizarding War, Sirius has little comprehension of how grave things are in his time, but he is not one to lose sight of himself or what he believes in, and that will make him an instrumental addition to the efforts against Voldemort made by the Order of the Phoenix in the coming years.

One of Sirius' most significant traits is his fierce loyalty to his best friends, Remus Lupin, James Potter, and Peter Pettigrew. Even at the age of 16, it is very obvious that he would do positively anything for them and even die for them. Later, when confronting Peter about selling James and his wife Lily to Voldemort, the following exchange occurs:

"What was there to be gained by fighting the most evil wizard that ever existed? Only innocent lives, Peter!"
"You don’t understand! He would have killed me, Sirius!"
"THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE DIED! DIED RATHER THAN BETRAY YOUR FRIENDS, AS WE WOULD HAVE DONE FOR YOU!"

(I should probably note that that is one of my favorite quotes in the whole series.)

On another, much more lighthearted note, Sirius' dog form, Padfoot, has crossed over into his human form in rather amusing ways. He barks when he laughs. When drunk, he will chase his own arse. His smile is very canine and when he shakes water out of his hair, sometimes he shakes all the way through his body. If he finds something riveting (or something takes his undivided attention), he takes on the stillness of a dog smelling a rabbit. He also has an affinity for Muggle things! He hopes to buy a motorcycle eventually, and is absolutely fascinated by anything he sees at Peter's or Remus' houses. He also loves to drink and has been caught sneaking into Madam Rosemerta's storeroom a time or two, so don't be surprised to open your journal to find Sirius drunk as a skunk.

ABILITIES: Like any Black that is worth the air to breathe, Sirius is a pureblood wizard, so he can do ~magic~. He is of legal age to apparate as well, so he can just appear wherever he pleases (but it makes a very loud noise. Mind your ears.) He is also an (unregistered, whoops) Animagi, which means he can also change into a large black dog, that inspired his nickname as a Marauder, Padfoot. He is often mistaken for the spectral dog referred to as the Grim, otherwise known as the Black Shuck to Muggles.

THIRD-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE: Sirius' spirits couldn't have been higher. After helping to set up a particularly complicated part of this month's prank (waterproofing the entire first floor corridor in order to flood it- excepting that a), he was feeling rather accomplished as he made his way up to the Gryffindor tower. It had been the best use the Marauders had made of skipping History of Magic all term, in Padfoot's opinion.

And then his favorite person to torment practically crashed right into him- Severus Snape. The stupid arsebag had been barreling down the hallway, eyes so trained on the floor that it was hardly a surprise that he didn't see Sirius there. Even better, though, was the fact that that stupid bird Evans was nary to be seen. His long, carved wand was out sooner than Snape could glare at him reproachfully for being in his way as his free hand grabbed hold of the slimy-looking boy's robes firmly to keep him where he was.

"Now, now, Snivellus! It's your own damn fault you didn't bother looking up-- silencio--" the Slytherin's grunt of pain as he was jabbed with the wand was cut short as the silencing charm took affect- "--though, have to admit, mate, you wouldn'ta seen me even if you had, that greasy fringe of yours is so long," he added, flicking the tip of his wand back and forth across the boy's obscured forehead.

"You really should count yourself lucky today, Snivellus. I'm in a good mood, so I'll go easy on you," he said, grinning wickedly at the mere thought. He shoved Snape away and onto his feet, then hoisted him upwards with a levitation charm.

"Where to put you, eh? In the girl's loo?" He glanced down the hallway, where the end was marked by an open window. A fall from a second floor window wasn't deadly, right? "How 'bout some fresh air?" He looked round briefly, until the perfect place dawned on him. "Oh, I know!"

And with a simple wave of his wand, Snape was hung neatly from a nearby wall sconce, 10 feet or so in the air. Sirius smiled at his work, and swiveled on his heel as he continued on his way back to the common room.

"Remember, Snivellus, always make the most of a good mood!"

FIRST-PERSON JOURNAL SAMPLE: wip!

INTENT: I am not quite sure of EVERYTHING I want to do with him in Paradisa, but I know Mr. Black intends to team up with Prongs and Moony to wreak as much havoc on this castle as they did in the last one <3 PS- Learning that Paradisa has a host club helped me decide what his loss would be. ~
